March - Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th: Carnival in Nerja

carnaval Thursday March 3rd:  Grand opening pregon (satirical speeches)

Friday March 4th: children’s costume competition and the election of the Dios Momo and Ninfa del Carnaval  for both adults and children. This is followed by a performance by the band Hados Negros.

Saturday March 5th: is the Grand Carnival Procession across town

Sunday March 6th: Burial of the Sardine, a popular event accompanied by much wailing and weeping.

February 24: Jazz with Roberta Gambarini at at the Cultural Centre in Nerja.

Celebrated throughout the world by fans, critics and many of the world’s greatest musicians, Roberta Gambarini became a fast-rising star – and a GRAMMY Nominee - with the 2006 release of her debut album, ‘Easy to Love.’

A smashing success on all fronts, Roberta’s debut secured her spot on the international touring circuit, where she continuously graces the most prestigious venues and festivals. In 2008, she made her major label debut with ‘You Are There,’ a superb duet with the legendary pianist Hank Jones.

Mr. Jones – who accompanied most of the celebrated vocalists of the 20th century such as Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Nat “King” Cole, and Billy Eckstine – declared Ms. Gambarini as the best singer to emerge in over 60 years.

The Boston Globe named Roberta as the “true successor to Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and Carmen McRae.” After her performance on the stage in Nerja, on the 24th february 2011, Roberta Gambarani conducted a jazz singer's workshop at Alahurìn de la Torre from 24th to 27th February 2011 and managed to give a concert on the last day.
